Article: “How to Ensure Your Company is Immigration Compliant”
In the May 2016 issue of HR Magazine, Irina Plumlee, immigration practice group leader in the Dallas office of Munsch Hardt Kopf & Harr shares best practices in an article titled, “How to Ensure Your Company Is Immigration Compliant”. Plumlee says, “There are few employment processes where taking a proactive approach pays off better than immigration compliance”. With the average error rate for paper Forms I-9 between 60% – 80% and average fines at $935 per error, most employers carry a lot of risk from their Forms I-9.
Recently, ICE and OSC released joint guidance to help employers perform an internal I-9 audit, however this is not an easy undertaking for many employers. Equifax Workforce Solutions is helping employers manage I-9 compliance with the new I-9 Audit and Remediation solution. I-9 Audit and Remediation automates inspection of historical I-9s, helps identify issues and assists employers in quantifying risk and prioritizing corrections. The remediation tool helps employers and employees to efficiently make electronic corrections while providing a more comprehensive audit trail to help manage Form I-9 compliance.
