Colorado Affirmation – Revised Form for CO Employers
In addition to maintaining Form I-9 compliance, each employer in Colorado has an added requirement for new hires. The Colorado Employment verification law (8-2-122, C.R.S.) and rules apply to public and private employers who transact business in Colorado, and to employees hired on or after January 1, 2007. The law requires each employer in Colorado to make an affirmation within 20 days after hiring a new employee and the form must be retained (written or electronic copy) by the employer for the full term of each employee’s employment.
Recently, a revised form was released with a date of 09/01/14. The revised form may be used for all employees hired on or after September 1, 2014, but must be used for all employees hired after October 1, 2014. The revised Colorado Affirmation of Legal Work Status form has been released within the Equifax I-9 Management solution and is available for use. If you are a Colorado employer, be sure to utilize the revised form as you are processing new hires.
