Digital Government Strategy
On May 23, The Office of Management and Budget released the long-awaited federal digital strategy, Digital Government: Building a 21st Century Platform to Better Serve the American People.
The strategy focuses on three objectives:
- Enable the American people and an increasingly mobile workforce to access high-quality digital government information and services anywhere, anytime, on any device.
- Ensure that the government procures and manages devices, applications and data in smart, secure and affordable ways.
- Ensure that federal data is open and machine-readable to spur innovation by enabling the public, entrepreneurs, and government programs to better leverage federal data within applications and services.
The document also focuses on ensuring that this delivery of data and services across new platforms maintains the security and privacy of the data in accordance with existing regulations.
