Client Focus: Helping PacSun Streamline the Hiring Process
Retailer PacSun targets a young demographic seeking the latest fashions, trends, and styles from top brands and designers. As a result, this lends itself to a young workforce as well. PacSun felt confident in their store managers’ ability to sell, but had concerns about their experience with business systems and understanding of the important nature of many onboarding documents, including the critical Form I-9. When PacSun performed an internal audit of their manual I-9 process, it was determined to be extremely inefficient. This prompted them to take the approach to streamline any activities that weren’t a core part of the store manager’s responsibilities…thus keeping their employees on the sales floor longer.
Here are the main issues that were uncovered in the internal audit:
- Managers are more skilled at selling than paperwork
- Paper I-9s were inefficient and posed a security risk
- A high turnover rate made training extremely difficult
- Incomplete WOTC screening left money on the table
- Filling out a bunch of papers didn’t fit PacSun’s style
They selected Compliance Center to automate the management of its pre-and post-employment onboarding processes. The streamlined process allowed their employees to focus on the critical core business of selling merchandise rather than tedious time-consuming paperwork. The new system also helped to enforce a culture of compliance to protect PacSun from an inconsistent process, while providing efficiency cost savings and additional income through WOTC screening.
