Maximize benefits, minimize frustrations with online portals
Standard registration processes for online portals still often include waiting for postal delivery of a confirmation code or a downstream face-to-face verification of identity. When you sign up for insurance benefits, you may be able to update your dependent records or check the status of your claim online, but before you can get access to the portal you may need to wait for a PIN to come in the mail.
Requiring that physical documents be mailed to customers simply delays their access to the application without adding significant security. If the mail is lost or intercepted, security isn’t improved and customer satisfaction drops even farther. In many cases, having to wait for a mailing means that the user abandons the online process and reverts to using a call center which increases the cost to the business.
A complete, secure online registration and identity proofing allows you to be sure that the user’s “claimed identity” is correct—they are who they say they are—and that the information presented to support the application is authentic and belongs to that user without having to mail pins and forms.
