NeHC Webinar: Increasing Medical Record Security
Please join us on Wednesday, September 19, at 1:00pm ET for a webinar with the National eHealth Collaborative. As health information exchange becomes more prevalent, privacy and security around user identification will be paramount. Join our panelists as they discuss the challenges of authentication and user identification and examine methods to address those challenges.
- Dr. Paul Tuten, Senior Consultant at the State HIE Program of the Office of the National Coordinator for HIT (ONC)
- Dr. Bill Braithwaite, “Dr. HIPAA”
- Dr. Michael Nelson, Vice President of Healthcare Strategy and Business Development, Equifax
- Drew McNichol, Technology Director, HEALTHeLINK
We’ll get and update on the regulatory status and briefly review the background of the issues of medical record security. Then we’ll discuss how electronic health records (EHRs) and health information exchanges (HIEs) meet the need for more consistant medical care. We’ll look at how to protect patient privacy and ensure data security by knowing who is accessing records electronically. We’ll end with a description of how Beacon award winning HEALTHeLINK uses multifactor authentication to ensure the security of their patient portal.
