North Carolina E-Verify Reminder
Employers need to be mindful of the fact that the North Carolina E-Verify law officially
went active as of October 1st. While this is still the first stage of the phased-in
approach, those employers with 500 or more employees working in North Carolina need
to ensure that they are registered for and using E-Verify.
The schedule for the phase is in as follows:
Effective Oct. 1, 2012—employers with 500 or more employees will be required to use E-Verify
to check work authorization for all new hires.
Effective Jan. 1, 2013—employers with 100 or more employees will be required to use E-Verify
to check work authorization for all new hires.
Effective July 1, 2013—employers with 25 or more employees will be required to use E-Verify
to check work authorization for all new hires.
