Rep. Welch: Expand the WOTC Credit
Peter Welch (D-Vt) took the wraps off of The Veterans Employment Tax Credit Act (VET).
This act represents an extension of the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) to include
anyone who has served in active military duty for more than 180 days in the past five
years. Notably, the VET act also seeks to expand the credit to those who serve/have
served in the National Guard – a provision also proposed in 2010’s Hire a Hero Act.
In addition, Mr. Welch announced his co-sponsorship of the Veterans Act, which provides
a specific tax credit for businesses that hire veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan
