WOTC Renewal Needs to be Included in Fiscal Cliff Package – Act Today!
Fiscal cliff negotiations are moving rapidly. Yet even with the recent positive work
done in the both the House and Senate to introduce Hurricane Sandy relief tax credits
that leverage the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC), and the progress being made
toward avoiding the fiscal cliff, the core WOTC program has been in hiatus since the
end of 2011. Further, the veteran expansion, created in November of 2011 and the only
current categories that the Department of Labor is certifying, is set to expire on
December 31, 2012. The business community has relied on an extension of these expired
and expiring provisions in making their hiring and tax planning decisions for 2012,
and further depends on these provisions going forward for 2013. Employers can contact
Congress to let them know how important WOTC is to helping needy individuals become
gainfully employed. Employers can use the resource below to contact their legislators
and show their support for WOTC and ask for its inclusion in the fiscal cliff negotiations today.
Please use the following link to contact your Senators and Representative and ask
them to extend WOTC now.
